What you should know
ID Austria is Austria's digital ID and has replaced the former mobile phone signature (Handy-Signatur). You use it to log in to FinanzOnline, your eAMS account, meineSV, the Business Service Portal (Unternehmensserviceportal) and many other services, and to sign documents electronically with legal validity.
For ID Austria with full functionality, an in-person identity check at a registration authority is required – for example at the district authority (Bezirkshauptmannschaft), a municipal office (Magistrat) or a regional police directorate (Landespolizeidirektion). ID Austria is then activated on your smartphone.

The documents you need
Please bring the following documents, if you have them. If something is missing, we will find a solution together.
- Valid photo ID (passport or identity card)
- Smartphone with an up-to-date Android or iOS version
- Your mobile number and email address
- Login details for your app store account
Good to know
- When applying for a new passport, you can have ID Austria registered at the same time.
- Never share your login details with anyone – not even with us. We guide you, but you do the confirmation yourself.

Do I really need a smartphone?
Using ID Austria generally requires a smartphone. Alternatively, there are FIDO security keys. We are happy to advise you on which option suits you.
My mobile phone signature no longer works – what should I do?
The mobile phone signature (Handy-Signatur) has been replaced by ID Austria. We help you make the switch and set up the new app.
I have a new phone – is my ID Austria gone?
No, but it has to be set up again on the new device. We show you how it works.
