What you should know

Unemployment benefit must be applied for at the AMS – in person, by phone or online via your eAMS account. Important: the benefit is paid at the earliest from the day you register. You should therefore register on the first day of unemployment at the latest.

Requirements include having been insured against unemployment for long enough (qualifying period), being able and willing to work, and being available to the labour market.
